Venomate/Intoxicate:This Pokemon's Normal-type moves become Poison type and have 1.3x power.
Before dissimising this and simply replying with "We dont need another -ate ability" or "SO ORIGINAL M8" Please let me explain myself and give you a brief history of the poison type and the reasons why Types were given the -ate abilities. First, Poison has a huge history of sucking. In the 3rd-5gen era where earthquake is slapped on to every pokemon that has a chance to because of its nice coverage and nice power with no drawbacks (In singles) made the poison typing a huge curse and most poison types where hardly even seen in NU. Then came the sixth generation and with that the fairy typing. However, this imposed the poison types to serve a more defensive role (Venusaur-mega/Nonmega is the exeption and even then they have very good bulk and venusaur has a decent defensive ability that covers for its weaknesses. It also has the grass type which helps it conquer the ground types.Another acception is venomoth but thats just for sleep powder+quiver dance+Baton Pass was just too much for UU) So giving them a chance at offensive roles with this ability gives alot more options for using a poison type competitively. It also gives them a role in your team ingame! Most people dont pick up a poison typed pokemon because of the lack of coverage they have and just how bad they compare to pokemon that you can pick up alternatively. So with all the buffs we have been giving the Ice type (Thanks jaywad ) I think its time to spread some love to another one of our overshadowed types.
(Please note that this isnt an invitation to create random -ate abilities)
Possibilities for pokemon:Crobat (Although it is complete it has an open ability slot),Toxicroak,Potential megas
