Boomerang (updated 4/26)
Description: Returns to user when thrown.
Can't be knocked off. Other moves/abilities that switch/steal items function normally.
Fling: BP 110, not expended on use
Seems pretty self explanatory. Thoughts?

I like it, but I have a question. Will there be a chance for a pokemon to steal it with Snatch, will it come back to the holder?

I don't think Snatch is the move that you mean, but in answer to the question I think you're trying to ask, it would still be susceptible to thief/knock off/etc as normal.

Only have a small amount of time, so will comment more soon, but maybe it'd be cool if it's power was higher. (Say 100). The item's sole use seems to be for flinging, so it's cool if it't actually usable. (It'd be the strongest reliable physical Dark-type attack, but you'd have to give up your item.)

Yeah, originally I was going to make it more powerful, but I was concerned about the plausibility of getting that much power from throwing what is essentially a piece of wood. On further thought though, throwing a boomerang at someone irl is at least as dangerous as throwing a rock at them (see: hard stone), so I'm fine with making this change, and I'm all for making fling an actually viable move. Obviously with a bp increase it wouldn't confuse anymore, because that would just be ridiculous.

BTW, if you make the BP higher, please remove the confusion. Otherwise it'll just be Chatter 2.0.

imo Make it higher BP without confusion, and if removed by thief/knock off/etc it will harm the attacker (as if fling was used or by set HP percentage), and return to the holder. this way its also used as a counter for knock-off which is used a lot since its gen 6 boost

I think I'm going to make the BP 110, which is a previously unused BP for fling. The reasoning behind this is that 100 BP (fossils, hard stone, and rare bone) is still (slightly) less powerful than life orb crunch, while 130 BP (iron ball) is more powerful than choice band crunch. A second opinion would be great, but otherwise I'll probably change the first post to reflect this tomorrow.

I think 110 is around right and should make fling a more viable move. I'm guessing these Dark Types may have some use with fling. Bisharp, Cacturne, Crawdaunt, Drapion, Krookodile, Malamar, Pangoro, Scrafty, Shiftry, Tyranitar, Weavile
Now looking at it Fling Boomerang is mediorce. Most these Pokemon don't really have room for fling on there moveset without getting rid of most likely knock off, which is a really nice move. Boomerang is still very gimmicky and may turn out really good despite it's drawbacks since no testing has been done.

Another possible effect for a Boomerang would be to increase the damage of moves with recoil!!

110 seems really strong ._.

110 seems really strong ._. Well it can't be boosted by any item, so if you were to compare it to a dark plate, it's equivalent of 92 base power but other dark type moves aren't boosted. weaker than dark plate knock off after 1 hit, slightly stronger than 2 consecutive life orb knock offs (one with item, one without) It seems pretty balanced at 110 imo

Besides this is very niche ._.

Seeing as dark types dont have incredably stong moves (nothing consistently over base 80) i think this would be a good way to bring fling back into the scene and put pressure on knock off if this becomes a viable threat. There are types that resist dark and would make it very easy to render this item useless. I say keep it at 110.

To make it less niche, I would consider letting it boost moves with recoil damage.

but that has nothing to do with the original idea

Approved 1/2, most items / moves aren't viable, but this is a good shot at it!
That said, I like the idea of having moves like Knock Off activate the boomerang effect as well.

I don't see any visible problems with this item, seems like a decent one and I like the fact that it actually makes Fling useful. I think Knock Off on a Pokemon holding this should work the same way as using Knock Off on a Mega Evolved Pokemon so there isn't any extra Knock Off damage for this item. Just add some flavour text such as ''The opponents Boomerang was knocked off but returned back to the holder''.

Approved 2/2. Expressed my thoughts in the post above. Good job.
Put "[Approved]" in the thread title, please.

Done, and also added a note about knock off immunity.

Spam Fling! It's awesome. Though I'm pretty sure a fossil would hurt a lot more than a boomerang if it were Flung at me. The base power makes no sense imo.
