Would be cool, given that a timpini is an instrument, if a side-effect is that sound-based moves have their damage boosted by 1.2 times.

I would be opposed to double effects. Most items have one and it'd just be confusing. Either choose this or the sound thing.

Yeah, I get confused between this and Metronome, however this does not matter. An ability shouldn't have random side effects either.

With this Ability, you could theoretically give a poke a Metronome item and use Echoed Voice or Rollout or something, and do ridiculous amounts of damage starting turn 2 o.o

@snackismybae I agree, that could level things out a bit. It would still be really strong Banded/Specced using any move that increases power as it's used consecutively, but everything's strong with Band/Specs lol

If metronome and this ability work multiplicatively +44% damage on second turn +96% damage on third turn +156% damage on fourth turn +224% damage on fifth turn +300% damage on sixth turn
if metronome and this ability work additively +40% damage on second turn +80% damage on third turn +120% damage on fourth turn +160% damage on fifth turn +200% damage on sixth turn
neither of these are game breaking, with the average over the first 6 turns being roughly 2.333 and 2 respectively.
taking as they work multiplicatively it takes 3 turns of using the same ability to be better than no ability and choice, additively takes 4 turns.

blackburn009 I'm assuming that's with a move of constant BP though, so it would do much more when paired with Echoed Voice. Either way, I agree it's probably not game breaking, but might make a nice niche for a certain poke. Sounds cool

In the competitive scene, most people do not stay in for more than 6 turns, and if they do, never using the same move every turn. I agree, it wouldn't be too game-breaking, if at all.

I really like this idea, since ive always liked moves that get stronger and Rollout was the nightmare of my childhood. But i dont like the name. I understand that Timpani is a play on Metronome but since Metronome is an item, Timpani doesnt sound like a name for an ability. imo make the name something like Inner Beat

Name idea! Instead of Timpani, Ostinato. Ostinato is a repeated bass line in music, so it could pay homage to Metronome in a sense. Idk... Up to you though.

It seems like rollout, ice ball, and echoed voice are about to become the new meta with this. Should we consider lowering the % from 20-10? I feel like this would help balance out the meta for those who would go crazy with life orb/choice items

Even then, it's not that useful for it to be nerfed. Name suggestion: Tempo Primo or something containing "Tempo" in it.
