So some of you may be wondering how we actually intend on making the game. Really there are two options:
1. ROMhack (e.g. Light Platinum)
2. RPGMakerXP + Essentials (e.g. Pokemon Insurgence)
After some deliberation, we decided on going with RPGMaker as it allows for a lot more cool features than a ROMhack (well is probably easier to implement at least). Below is a table with some of the comparisons.
Going with this does mean that at the moment, as far as I'm aware, I'm the only one who is capable of making the game. Unlike ROMhack software, RPGmakerXP isn't free, so it does mean if others want to help with the actual creation of it, then they would have to buy it. However, there are still lots of ways people can help out with stuff for the game. Although it is kinda hard to help with the coding without really seeing all the scripts and such, there are lots of things were the data is stored in .txt files, and people can help making things for these (e.g. Pokemon, Moves, Trainers). And then things like maps can still be created in other software, and I'll just copy them in, so there isn't really too much that is limited to just me.
If you have any questions about anything to do with the development of the game feel free to ask below, but I will be creating individual threads for the different parts of creating the game you can help out with, so save inquiries about helping out with particular areas for those threads.
