Ability: Fossil Fuel Description: Ancient Pokemon (that were revived from Fossils) will get a 1.2x Attack and SpA boost when hit by a Fire-type move. When the pokemon has a BRN status, the attack will not increase or decrease.
Compatibility: All ancient fossil pokemon (ex. Aerodactyl, Armaldo, Cradily, Kabutops)

The only problem I see is Archen/Archeops. Even if you just remove Defeatist, Archeops becomes really scary. Coming in on a resisted fire type move, getting the boost, would break it.

I could pretty much say the same with Aerodactyl, since it already has a high base attack. They're both scary regardless.

And kabutops has a double resistence! This would seem pretty evil to have. Would you prefer only giving it one side of the boost? like keep the attack and scratch the spa off.

It's a cool idea and all, just a bit unbalanced. Adding this ability to some fossils could be an issue (such as Aerodactyl which has 3 abilities already, or Archeops). An appropriate nerfs could be removing the attack drop immunity from BRN. But tbh I'm against this ability because if this is approved this makes it okay for us to replace the pre existing abilities on mons, which I don't agree with.

well i don't see anyone using fire against rock types...
Issues: Boosts after attacking or being attacked are counted in stages, not in multipliers like that. Fossil fuel ignites! Removing burn atk reduction is not ok to me.
Id suggest this: Increase Sp. Atk by 1 stage after the user hits or gets hit by the foe with a fire type move. If user is hit by any fire type move it immediately recieves burn stat.
Since there isn't many fire options at the current fossil pokemon movepools i think this works fine. Would be weird(probably useless) for kabutops since its commonly a physical attacker.

I believe it was stated that it was okay to replace existing abilities, as quite a bit of the Overawe discussion was on replacing abilities...

I find it an interesting and unique idea, but a bit specific, and I don't really agree with giving every single Fossil Pokemon the same ability. It might be easier to raise Attack and Sp.Attack to 1.5x, if anything, since that simplifies it to a +1 boost. Even then it seems slightly broken.

@kim i think there's an already made ice-type flash fire [hoarfrost] made and approved, so i doubt they'd want 2 abilities like it.
